Hello world! Thank you for visiting my site!
I am Wang Banban (no pronoun/him/his), a historian wandering in stones and books, a teacher trying to pose questions to students, and a journalist/editor working for injustice in the world. Here you will find my ideas, my work, and sometimes my complaints: mostly about Graeco-Roman antiquity, but also about histories in general!
I currently work as a lecturer at Technische Universität Braunschweig. Previously, I worked as a research associate (or wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Collaborative Research Centre 933 “Material Text Cultures” at Heidelberg University (Germany). At the same time I am finalising my PhD dissertation on the epigraphic culture in the Hellenistic sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi (Greece). In my free time, I work as a freelance journalist under the pen name “Nani Wong” in supporting research for various journals and newsletters.
A historian’s hobby is reading histories from all times and spaces. History is a science on contexts.
I am training myself to become a digital humanist, focusing especially on the digitalisation of Greek inscriptions and web disposition of texts and data. As an amateur translator, I have translated two research books from English to Chinese, and many inscriptions from Greek to English or French. Once a student activist, I wish that students and scholars can unite ourselves for a better future.
